Popular songs...

How did this ever become a popular song? Why wasn't it killed before it reached the airwaves? The radio constantly plays this song, where they sing that it's a "one way ticket to hell and back." It irritates me in a really bad way. What part of the "one way" concept is it you don't get, and do you realize that "and back" assumes it's not a one way ticket?

Please restore me

It's a shame when these beautiful buildings are left to fall apart.

Broken door lock

Someone tried to break into my car - with a screwdriver. The attempt tells me that either a) my car locks from 1986 are really good, or b) the people who tried to break in were amateurs, since they not only didn't get in, but they broke the lock in the process, or c) combination of both. According to a lock smith in Tartu, a whole bunch of other cars (he had MANY visitors that day) shared the experience the very same night, which makes me lean towards b). Anyway, time to implement some anti-theft measurements.

They had also made an attempt on the driver side, but destroyed the lock only partially. However, by the time I made it to Citymarket in Keminmaa, I had to open the back hatch and crawl to the front in order to open the locks. Thank goodness they didn't kill the back hatch. New locks have been ordered from Toyota.

University of falling apart

...or abandoned archeological site perhaps. With steep ditches and various levels of partially uncovered walls, holes going into basements with no other visible exits, I got the feeling that this overgrown field was an archeological site whose funding for further excavations had run out. Just down the street from the University of Tartu - perhaps someone can fill me in.

Alfred's has expanded?

Must be a twin pub... Well, not really, but I had to stop and go in when I saw Alfredi - as opposed to Kautokeino's own Alfred's.
